Despite having a 3-2 advantage, the German giants should not underestimate Sevilla’s strength. Because, the team from Spain is predicted to do a counter attack to be able to turn things on their side.

The two teams prior to Wednesday’s match face both defeats in their respective league matches. The defeat also made their fate in the standings languish.

Dortmund managed by Edin Terzic has just suffered a painful defeat to Bayern Munich with a score of 2-4 in a classic German Bundesliga match.

On the other hand, Sevilla, who had enjoyed an extraordinary season, actually declined. Julen Lopetegui’s men suffered a shock 1-2 defeat to Elche at the weekend.

Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla are evenly positioned as far as head-to-head records. Each of these has won one match of the three meetings between the two teams. Both also often produce some dramatic goals.

Borussia Dortmund secured a first leg advantage with a 3-2 win in Seville last month, but any slip up will be capitalised upon by their LaLiga counterparts. A 4-2 defeat at Bayern Munich having gone 2-0 up will have dented morale, however Dortmund will look to home advantage in their bid to book a quarter-final spot.

After coming into the first leg meeting with Dortmund on a nine-game winning run, Sevilla’s form has dropped off of late. Indeed, they have lost four of their last five, kickstarted by the 3-2 loss to the German outfit.

Sevilla don’t necessarily need to come out all guns blazing, but they need to score quickly to get a foothold back in the tie. We could well see an open match at the Westfalenstadion, though one that Dortmund should edge on aggregate.
